Hello,

I have a Dell Dimension 9100, running XP, Service Pack 3. The machine has a built-in multi-card reader. The reader is not reading any cards and the system is not recognizing and cards when they are inserted. The green LED, that is lit when reading is contstanly lit.

Last week I started getting messages about a failure to write to N:^&L or something like that. "N" was an external hardrive. I restarted and the problem went away. I'm not sure if that would affect the card reader.

I have no exclamation marks in device manager.

Any ideas?

Have you checked Dells Driver Downloads page for your system to ensure that you have the latest drivers and patches for your system?


You might also try locating this device in Device Manager, removing it, reboot and permit Windows to reinstall the appropriate driver.

If I were at home, I could tell you. ;-) I've got a Dell Dimension with a card reader at the house.

System Devices maybe? I can check in about 5 hours.....

I've gotten home and found the entries (3 of them) for the card reader under Disk Drives in Device Manager.

Mine show as

TEAC USB HS-CF Card USB Device
TEAC USB HS-MS Card USB Device
TEAC USB HS-SD Card USB Device

not sure if this is related or not
TEAC USB HS-xD/SM USB Device
