Uh the problem is I can't really think of a way to get files onto my pc. I'm actually posting on my iPod... I believe the disc drive works fine but Im not sure if I cud get the files from the disc. Also just an idea, I installed an older version of xp cuz it was all that was available so maybe the hardware isn't compatible with the older xp? Just throwin that out there.

vendor for motherboard is gateway. and the board model is just called gateway but the product name is MX3414.
sound chip vendor is Nvidia and the soundchip is the mcp51 if thats what you were asking for. And sorry I sort of read your post wrong. |

You can download all the drivers for your laptop from the link below.
Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads If you have no way to burn them to a cd then you could save them to a USB stick and install them from there. Install the chipset and graphics drivers first. Then install the rest. Please post back if you have any problems. |

Ok I have installed all the drivers but the sound driver and the usb driver didn't work. The sound driver said I didn't have the right system and the usb one.... well the readme tells me to go to the device manager then click the plus sign on USB then look for mass storage device but all i see are 2 other ones, I tried those and it didnt work. And also thanx for all the help so far.

I contacted gateway and they couldn't help. Ive searched extensively on google to no avail (did I use that word right?) and im to scared to try drivers on random sights as that would be my preferred method if I wanted to give people virus's..... So what are some trusted driver download sites?

Never mind I got it. Windows didn't auto update to the service packs and those drivers weren't compatible with vanilla windows I guess. Either way all the problems are resolved!! Yay!! (as far as I know)
