So i'm on my computer, playing some games, listening to music as usual and my sound starts to echo and my screen just goes to black and nothing happens..so I have to hard boot it. Anyone know what this problem can be? It's happened at least 4 times.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16ghz
2GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 8800GTS
650W Cooler Master PSU

it looks like it could be your GPU over heating, 70C isn't good to be running at... but it might be something else... has it been crashing regularly or is this over a longer period of time?

It's been crashing late at night..I guess it is getting over heated since my computer is on mostly all day.

What can I do to prevent this?
I just turned my computer on and now my GPU is at 53 C and Core is at 54 C

Hello firstly power her off and dissconnect from power outlet.

Open her up and touch the PSU for a few seconds.

Then give the internals a good clean...

Power her back on and check those temps again and post them please.

For the GT 8 that temp is not overly hot but still a little warm for my taste.

Your hard drive is hot however.

Open command prompt and copy and paste in chkdsk /r and hit enter on your keyboard.

If you get a message cannot run now would you like to schedule type Y and hit enter and restart the machine and let chkdsk /r and post results please.
