I'm a new user to this forum, so forgive me if i don't post this in the right thread. Anyway, my specs are listed in my profile, and here's my problem:
1. Playing mutliple different games when i started getting the nvlddmkm error.
-I decided to reload my pc, for whatever reason, hopeing that it might fix the problem.
-Load went fine, boot up correctly, started to install drivers. Got to the very last driver, (graphics) and i used nvidia's recognize tool to determine the right driver. It said basic vga driver, so i figured i'll load that one and then go back and get the right one once i reset.
2. PC resests and i decide to check on one other detail, memory speed of my ram.
3. I get to bios and see that my bios underclocked my ram, so i decided to manually clock it at the right speed.
4. I save changes, and pc resets.
5. Computer turns on, (HD boots, mobo green light, video card light, all fans spin up, optical drives turn on) does not post a screen, so i decided it could either be the graphics driver, although i thought it was a slim chance, or the memory problem with my bios.
6. I decided to take out my memory sticks (6GB total) and only use 4GB so see if that fixed the problem, it did not, so i decided to stick with just 1 stick, same problem.
7. I then knaively decide to reset my bios, by pulling the battery, waiting afew minutes, discharging all the power by hitting the power button.
8. Now my PC starts up, about 2 seconds later, then resets, then starts up again, with everything turning on, and with the original problem of no post to screen.
Please help! Had many frustrating tests, and i don't have another good pc to interchange parts, i hope i didn't fry my mobo or graphics card when i took anything out, or reset bios. If you have any ideas i would extremely appreciate it, thanks.

Welcome to PC Help Forum Novus Orsorum.
![]() I would like to extend a hardy welcome! It makes me wonder if the CMOS battery has gone bad. That could account for the RAM settings being different. A question please. Does the motherboard have onboard video? If so you may check to see if that is disabled. All cards and ram is seated firmly? LC |

Thanks for the welcome,
Unfortuanatly there is no onboard video, so there isn't anyway to test my graphics without the current graphics card. Also, i have checked to make sure everything is seated at least twice just to make sure i didn't miss any easy mistake. And im not sure if the bios battery is bad or not because up to the removal of it, it worked fine and kept the current settings since the build of the computer, about 9 months ago. ~Novus |
