Hi all

My girlfriend bought a PC form some "backyard" computer company. They put a password on the BIOS setup and the guy is no longer around so I cannot get hold of him for the password. I cannot change the boot sequence to boot from a CD so that I can install a fresh copy of XP or format the HDD, I think there may be malware or hardware conflicts cause I get a bluescreen error and apphang errors etc. I tried overwriting the current copy of XP on the PC and now it won't boot further than a screen which is black and a message "VERIFYING DMA POOL DATA....." That's it. Any ideas on how I can get past the password? Anything I can unplug or re-seat or replace inside the PC to get past the password. It's driving me batty cause I'm a person who at the same time likes a challenge but doesn't like it if I cannot solve them.

Never mind. Tried the removing of the battery thing and it works.
