Hello Forum,
I have recently purchased a new USB plug and play keyboard but cannot get it to work.
I went to the sites customer service and ran through some steps that may have been causing problems:
1.) Device Manager showed the keyboard as yellow question mark, showing up on the list twice, we remoed these and nothing
2.) SUggested that Windows Serice Pack 3 was a problem, proceeded to remove it, nothing
3.) Tested the keyboard in my laptop which runs XP windows serbice pack 3 and it WORKED!
Since It worked on my laptop I see no reason why it shouldn't work on my PC, and yet, it still does not, even checked my BIOS and that looks like it is ok as well.
HELP!

Hello Joshuamacneil and Welcome to PC Help Forum. We have an excellent staff and community ready to help you.
Maybe your PC needs new drivers for the keyboard. Who manufactured the keyboard and what type of connection (USB, PS/2, etc.) does it use? *JM* |

It was manfactured by micro innovations and it is a USB keyboard. While talking to the support tech he seemed to indicate I should be able to just plug and play it, and that was not the case.

OK. Since it is USB, it will most likely need new drivers. The first thing you want to do is go to Windows Microsoft Update and see if they have any updated drivers. Also, I learned that XP SP3 contains 2x as many drivers as SP2, which probably explains why the keyboard runs on your laptop but not your other one. Try updating to SP3 as well, but I would make sure to create a system-restore point just in case something so wrong.

Ok I updated my computer but the keyboard still won't work. When I plug it in it tries to look for the driver and fails, any more ideas before I return this thing?

Have you gone into BIOS and checked whether USB Support Legacy is enabled or disabled? Some PCs actually offer this, some don't.
