Default Portable dvd player-Pro Line DVDP920W help

hi, i have recently bought a Pro Line DVDP920W portable dvd player. the problem is that i watch movies from there using a SD card. however for some reason i can only watch some files but not all. when i look at the file on my PC, they all look the same with a .avi file extension, but only some work on the dvd player??? why is this??? has it got anything to do with some multi-region thing??? please help. thanks

It depends on what codec was used to encode the movie file, if the file was either XviD or DivX you will have no problems playing them.

There are other movie codecs that can be encoded in to a avi container that will not play so you may have some of those...

i think that most of them are divx or xvid. they are about 700mb files. when i look at the files on my PC, they all look the same. i cant find any difference??

The only way to tell is to use a app like MediaInfo to check the movie file.

After you install it just right mouse click on the movie file and click on MediaInfo in the context menu, and it will give you a load of info about the file...

i have installed mediainfo and have noticed that the files which work have a "video stream: MPEG-4 Visual (Xvid)" and the video files which don'e work have a "video stream: MPEG-4 Visual (DivX 5)".

i have checked this with about 10 different files, some which work and some which don't. this is the case with all of them.

There may be a firmware update for the portable dvd player that allows playing of more formats.

Check out the manufacturers website for updates, and any whats new docs to see what has been updated...
