Default NTLDR is missing

I have a Compaq Presario SR1429NX.
Last night I had combined parts from two computers together to get around my old problem with the booting but not loading. So I had the computer up and running and wanted to put my custom video card in it, But found out the P5 cable coming from the power supply was not long enough because my hard drive was to far up so I disconnected the hard drive and moved it to a lower slot so I could hook the P5 up to my video card, which is how it was in my old computer. After setting that up I booted it and got the same problem booting but no loading, I was fine with it and went back to the old set up. After doing this I boot it up and after the Compaq screen where it gives you the boot options, It said NTLDR is missing press ctl+alt+dlt to restart. Any ideas for this problem?

If it helps my hard drive is partitioned with a back up.

I have learned my lesson; I will never mess with a computer once it is running just fine.

Never again.

Thanks in advance

Vince

Hi there, can you please chek that the Hard drives both connected properlt and listed in the BIOS?
to access the BIOS, reboot the PC and press F1 OR F2 OR F10 OR Del. as soon as the PC starts to boot, if F1 doesn't work, then reboot and try F2. if not, reboot and try F10, if not, reboot and press del.

I will do this when I get home. In the event that this is not the problem, do you have any other solutions?

I come across this problem alot when I take my computer apart and what not. Two possibilities depending on what you did. I see that it says you combined parts and this is one problem if you are running windows xp Home edition because you can not mix parts once you've registered home to that computer as far as processor and what not. It is possible that you may not be able to use those parts with the xp home. Second problem is either cables to hd are not pushed in all the way or bios is not recognizing it and possibly could be master/slave options for jumpers.
