I have a Compaq Presario SR1429NX.
Last night I shut my computer off un plugged it and laid it down to dust it for the first time. I started by taking the processor fan off and cleaned that, then I took the heat sink off the processor, cleaned that, then took some Q-tips to clean the area around the processor. After cleaning that I assembled it back and followed all the steps I took to take it apart to put it back together. Then I went to the video card, detached it, pulled it out, and laid it down. I took the fan off cleaned that, then cleaned the heat sink on it, assembled it and reseated it.
I hooked it back up and fired it up, it turned on fine, but I got no response from the monitor. I looked around and tried to reboot it, same results, I noticed that when I fire the computer up, the keyboard lights up, my Ethernet port lights up, and most importantly the light in front of the tower stays lit orange. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or better yet tell me the problem or know how to fix it?
Any help will be appreciated
Sincerely,
Vince

Hi
Video card? That thing has a video card? I think you should connect your monitor to the OnBoard VGA Interface. Then go in the BIOS and check that your Video Adapter is set as first.

Well now that you mention it, I got the computer from a friend and it has a very fancy graphics card, so I’m sure the motherboard is different. If you let me know how to find out what motherboard and video card, I will gladly get it for you, if you think you can find the fix.

The M/B maker and Part Number should be printed on it.
