Well today my PC has just started doing this on me. I had my external Hard drive plugged in and then tried to connect my MP3 player and it gave me the above error. Then I restarted with my MP3 connected, MP3 was picked up but gave the above error for my Harddrive instead. What's going on? Is there something wrong with the USB ports?

Is this a laptop or an old desktop PC?

It appears that your system doesn't have enough power to power the MP3 player. I assume the external hard drive doesn't have an external power supply and that it draws power from the system?

You can either try one device at a time (unplug all USB devices except the MP3 player would be a good test) but really it seems as though you want a new power supply.

That, or both your MP3 player and external hard drive have died.

However, if you have several USB devices connected then to me it appears your power supply is failing to provide sufficient power. Let me know what happens with no USB devices connected except the MP3 player.
