Unhappy Internet failiure

Ok I really did not know where to post this one but.....

Note: I use a Netgear DG834G
It all started with a driver update.

The driver was trying to update something called D-Link Airplus -520 but it failed.

After that everything started to fail. The internet would not work anymore, yet it was still connected. (Note: The internet is connected by a LAN cable that is connected to one of those electrical wireless plugs)

The ip config was all gone. Completly blank. I even tried looking in cmd and it came out with nothing.

I tried to manually put in the ip and all that but still no luck. I tried using a USB wireless for the Netgear which worked for a bit then when I restarted it stopped working.

I got annoyed so I re-installed Windows Xp thinking it would help yet nothing changed.

I tried installing a different driver for the USB because the one on the disc wasn't working anymore, but still no luck. The computer doesn't seem to let the driver work. The wireless USB can't be detected yet other USBs can. The Netgear wireless USB setup opens then closes instantly.

So I really have no clue on what to do. If you can make sense of anything I just typed could anyone help me with this.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Have you tried a system restore?

I have marked your thread as "Open" to receive further help.

Everything has been fixed, just posting the soulution incase anyone else gets into this random mess like me lol

The problem was my hardrive had a chip set driver that controled the network. Since everything was wiped (And I mean everything) It wasn't working properly so the right drivers had to be installed, in my case drivers from N'vidia.

P.S I don't completely understand it because my Uncle fixed it for me and told me the problem so if anyone has a problem like this in the future check your hardrive

^_^

Thanks for getting back to us with how you fixed it.

It's the motherboard chipset drivers that your uncle installed. You need to reinstall any time you reformat otherwise some things like on board lan etc don't work.

Will mark as resolved.
