Hello,
I am unable to play Blu-ray discs through a DVI connection on my desktop.
I have run the Cyberlink BD Advisor tool:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Core 2.83 GHz
CPU (HW Acceleration) NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500
System Memory: 2048 MB (although Windows reads 4096 MB)
OS: Windows Vista SP1 (Ultimate)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500
Graphics Card Driver: 7.15.11.7813
Blu-ray Disc Drive: HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20L (LG)
Software Player: PowerDVD 8.8.0.2217.00
Video Connection Type: Digital (without HDCP)
The BD Advisor shows all green expect for the Video Connection Type. I am to play BD discs using a dvi to vga cable but not dvi/dvi cable.
My monitor is a Dell S2409w and according to Dell, it is HDCP capable.
Does anyone have any thoughts on getting the HDCP to enable?
Thanks,
Matt

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.
Firstly VGA,DVI and HDMI etc work diffrently. You configure the monitor via windows display and Nvidia control panel/advanced options the both work together. Have you updated drivers for the monitor and the graphics card? I have marked your thread as "Open" ready to receive further help from our great Tech Team and helpfull members. JB.

JB,
I have installed the latest driver for the monitor and graphics card. I have configured the monitor from the Nvidia control panel. I have two GeForce FX 2500 SLI'ed pushing a 1920x1080 resolution. It just seems odd that if the monitor, graphics card and cable and labeled by the manufacturer to be HDCP-capable but they wont work together to achieve it. Thanks, Matt |

Hi mac7, welcome to PCHF, sorry for the delay on that one.
If a blu-ray disk requires HDCP (and they normally do), then the player itself needs to be AACS enabled, and both your video card and monitor needs to be HDCP enabled. It sounds like your monitor is ok, but are you absolutely sure that your graphics card is too? I can't even find a Quadro FX 3500 card with HDCP available on the net (assuming it's a 3500 and not a 2500 listed above), so I believe your issue here is that you don't have a HDCP compatible graphics card installed.
