I'm not sure if this is a Windows XP question but it seemed like the appropriate category to put it in since it is running XP.
Anyways, my grandfather's computer has been acting up lately. First, he has a surge protector that he shuts the computer off with and he used to have to turn the surge protector on and then press the power button on his tower for his computer to start up but now, his computer turns on automatically. What could cause it to change?
Another problem is when he starts his computer up, a black screen comes up and it says some information about his computer and at the bottom of that it says 'Press F5 to setup' so I press F5 and it took me to his bios. Once you exit the bios the computer starts up fine. Why does that screen keep coming up every time he boots his computer up and is there a way to shut it off?
Thanks.

I think that when the computer boots up it has lost it's settings because the battery for the motherboard is dead. So it goes to the screen you see.
After you boot it what date does the computer think it is?

Just to double check - bottom right corner of screen is normally the time.
Double click on that to bring up the calendar.
