there should be a battery on your motherboard (small silver disk type) remove it for a few minutes then put back in. also make sure the power cable is removed from the computer

Hello Wazzu

If you still have your computers manual than try looking in there for a part about the CMOS.

But generally you turn the machine off, and take the small silver battery out of the motherboard, wait a few minutes and place it back in and that should do it. Depending on your mobo manufcature and age you may have to set the jumper to the other setting. Note: the jumper is the small bit with 3 sets of 2 pins and one with a small piece of plastic over it. Take it out and place it on each for a few minutes and set to original position again. Some newer computers have a small button on the motherboard, press it and reboot the computer.

Hope this helps you with your problem.

Good Luck!

I took the battery out and put it back in... That didn't change anything. Now i cannot find the pins that are used for the jumper. Can anyone help with a diagram of the mother board and how to jump? hp pavilion 521n

You can't have removed the power cord at the same time. With both out for a couple of minutes, the BIOS will re-set.

You need to remove ALL power sources for it to reset, so remove the battery AND the power cord for a couple of minutes
