I had hooked up my dsl modem to my pc through the usb port the other day with no problem. Today, I put in a new graphics card but and when I log on to windows and try to connect my modem, no usb device is recognized. Is there something I could have moved or disconnected for this to happen?

Hey, alienware5050. I've marked your thread as [Open] so some of our techs can take a look.

The USB connector is a blue coloured 9 pin connector. Usually they are also labelled USB 3-4 or USB 5-6 etc on the actual board.
Check to make sure that they are plugged in correctly. If they were built into the board then they should work. The only problem I have had was with 'extra' USB ports that take up a backplate slot...even though they're connected they don't work for some reason. Check that your built in USB connectors are: 1. Plugged in firmly 2. Have no bent or missing pins (bent pins are easy to fix, missing pins are not) If the problem persists then try different USB ports. Also check your motherboard manual if you have one for jumper settings. You may have dislodged a jumper that has turned USB ports off or otherwise made them not function. Usually this jumper is labelled USB_PWR or something similar. |

Go to Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus controllers>Right Click on the Devices listed there and select the Power Tab.
If the ports are functional and used, you'll see the power required. If the port you have your modem connected draws no power... BTW: Are toy sure your modem's port is functional?

Thank You Amtech and georgeks, I guess I placed something back where it was originally. The ports are fully functional again.
