Default Vanisihing cursor and type

Good Afternoon,

I have a Packard Bell Ixtreme 6091. For a while now I've been getting problems when I type. The cursor vanishes for a while so that anything I type doesn't show, after a short time the cursor reappears, but what I've typed during its absence doesn't. Sometimes it doesnt come back and I have to 'point' at the space where the next letter should be, for it to return. A long time ago I had to swap out its original keyboard and now use a wireless board and mouse. If I only have firefox and outlook open and I'm typing, I can hear a lot of disc activity, I originally put the missing text down to operator error, mishitting keys, but I've been very careful recently and say I'm not hitting anything other than the qwerty keys when this problem happens.

My pc has standard memory (512) a jaz drive that has been in since day 1
I'm running XP sp3...

Anyone got any ideas please?

Gest regards
Julian

Hello Julian

How much RAM do you have in your PC?
How many processes are running at any one time?

If you are running anything that is seriously resource hungry (such as some Anti Virus programs) then your keyboard will come very low down in the pecking order of CPU priority.
