Is there a keysequence I can use to shot down my computer (Windows XP) when the monitor is dark? Having intermittent problems when monitor does not start properly and would like to turn off or restart without using the power button.

On most newer keyboards there are keys to shutdown the computer cleanly.
Usually by pressing the Fn key with one of the three power button I have on my keyboard (which is an el cheapo board) shuts it down. Have a look for any keys that have a circle with a vertical line going through it...
