Hi all,
I own a mac laptop (please don't hate me) and use XP via bootcamp.
I've managed to understand most of the OS difference but I'm struggling to use an external microphone.
A few points:
- The laptop has an on-board mic and I can control these settings.
- The external mic is recognised as a digital input
- Audio software: Realtek
- External mic: Olympus ME-15
-
Will 'new-drivers.com' sort this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the kind welcome!
I did an extensive search through all of the relevant threads on this board and found some similar problems but nothing that solves it. A few more points that could be helpful: - One thing that cropped up on a few occasions was to un-install the sound (realtek) driver then reboot system but no success. Is this the same as downloading and install a fresh driver? - I can adjust the 'Digital Input' sound level in the volume settings but still cannot receive any sound from external mic. - Something that I found illogical was that I can adjust sound settings within two separate programs. The first in the standard volume adjustments dialogue and the second is in the realtek sound card-specific program. Should I be using both or just one of them to make changes? Are they linked at all? |

Thats not illogical. The Realtek sound card program is just to enhance the sound. The standard volume is what counts most of the time.
Also, uninstalling and rebooting may help only if u have the correct drivers installed. |

Download and install a fresh driver.Check device manager that it actualy installed.Check windows sound and realtek audio setup as both have to be setup.Check nothing is muted and all sliders are fully up.
You can try uninstalling the drivers as maybe one has become corrupt then download a fresh driver. If that doesnt work in device manager uninstall the actual sound card and reboot let new hardware wizard reinstall it.

Thank you for the continued help.
All of the settings are set to full volume. Where can I find the driver to download? |
