Have the PC's front USB ports ever worked?

Are the front USB ports connected to the motherboard?

Do they show any yellow ! in the Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers?

Assuming XP

Next step is to goto the Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager,

there you will see at the bottom

USB System Controllers

expand the list (by clicking on the + sign.)

Delete/Uninstall each item.

Reboot

The PC will refresh its "knowledge" of the USB ports.

Do the front USB's now work?

thescotsman the issue is with both your USB ports and your USB pen drives?Correct?

I think your front USB ports are faulty.

Could you plug a USB pen drive/stick into your laptop and open disk management and check to see if it is listed there please.

We need to see if these USB sticks even register.Do they also register in my computer?

JB.
