Default PC will not boot

hi all,

so the other day i get home from class to my PC powered up (i hear the fans running) but nothing on the display. My sister said she rebooted the PC and then nothing would come back on. So I am trying to troubleshoot it. I have disconnected the HDD and powered it up, as suggested by a friend to see if the BIOS would be displayed, and I get nothing, there are none of the normal boot up sounds (beeps, etc) i hear nothing at all from the PC except the sounds of the fans. any ideas? is the PC a lost cause?

Thanks

Sounds like the motherboard or processor has given up the ghost. Or possibly the power supply. Try wiggling the main power connector around a bit. Make sure the small 4 pin cable that supplies power to the processor is plugged in. its a square, 4 pin plug with yellow and black wires. Should plug in near the processor socket. While its off of course. make sure its unplugged to prevent accidental power up which may damage it even more.
