Default New Network adaptor card- Monitor goes off?

Hi
i have just fitted a TP link TF-3283 10/100M PCI Network Adaptor.and ethernet cable .
The computer detects this fine and the drivers seem to install from disc fine.

The problem is that my monitor now shuts off (goes blank after about 5 minutes or less) making a clicking sound as it does ( noise could come from the computer case i think). The computer seems to remain on, but with a blank screen so all i can do is shut it off at the switch.

What could the possible issues be and how to overcome them.?
Initially i put the adaptor in the PC1 slot , it was detected but failed to install the drivers
I moved it to PC4 where the monitor issue occurred.

Any advice much appreciated!

Pete

Hi there and welcome to PCHF

It sounds like you have an issue with the PCI slots.but the problem is an odd one. Try updating your motherboard chipset drivers first, then return the card to slot one and try to re-install it.
