Hi there,
I have recently bought a new wireless router that is to replace my cheap Etisalat router that my ISP is renting to me. However, to connect my computer to the router I am asked for my:
VPI
VCI
and my Encapsulation; either vcmux or llc
It is also asking for the type of IP address that I have. I haven't changed it to static yet, so I'm assuming that I have dynamic.
The router said that my ISP should have provided this information. I have checked all of my documentation for my ISP, and cannot find any relevant material. I have emailed their help desk, and have gotten no response. I am assuming that they want to maintain their monoponly on the router rental costs.
Obviously you cannot find this information since it is specific to my network; but is it possible for me to figure this out?
Thanks.

Hi Andrew,Yes I believe that there is always a way to figure these things out. First of all, do you have access to the information regarding the router you have been renting from your ISP? Secondly, do they have instructions on how to enter the control panel for the old router? You may be able to simply pull that information from the old router. Who is your ISP? Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW

O.K. The manual hints of no way to enter the control panel using conventional methods.
Right now, my computer has no internal wireless hardware, so I am using an external "booster" that connects to my computer via Ethernet and communicates to its twin which is connected to my router vie Ethernet. The installation Cd for my current router does not like this and won't allow me to install the drivers to be able to go to my control panel. With my old router in France using the same external "boosters", I was able to connect to the router's control panel by typing 192.168.1.1 (I think that was it) but it does not work in this case; although i am not sure if that is what i am supposed to type. And no I do not believe that I have any information about my router besides a few ISP bills and my account card which does not seem to have any relevant information. My ISP is Etisalat.
