Default crashing issues

I have a problem with crashing on my brand new PC and I was wondering if I could get the help of people who know what they are doing rather then asking on bad forums. Whenever I run bioshock i get random crashes at very random intervals. I have done extensive testing and cannot figure out the problem.

My configuration is as follows:

CPU: e8500 3.16 GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 4850 (2x in crossfire)
MOBO: Foxconn blackops (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000385)
OS: windows XP SP3
RAM: OCZ reaper gaming ram, 4 gb
HDD: 2x WD 640 gb, in raid 0

I have run memtest and confirmed that my RAM was not the issue, but my board was undervolting it. I have also done multiple CPU and GPU tests using Orthos, ATItool, rthdribl, and burnintest. (i gave the last 1 to itomix to upload)

LINK TO TEST IMAGES: http://s365.photobucket.com/albums/oo97/stirfriedsushi/

As you can see by the images, my temps are all normal and burnintest has given me no errors except for 2d graphics and that 1 is because of something else (i confirmed with passmark people)

I have multiple tools to control fanspeed (Aegis pannel and rivatuner) so i am pretty sure there is no overheating.

The one anomaly i have noticed is when i am playing bioshock, i get random drops in gpu usage (all the way to 0) as shown in the gpu monitoring image called GPU drops. I don't get this during any other GPU test.

i have yet to test with another game as i don't have 1 that will push my system as much as bioshock. I have a strong urge to say that it is just the install, but that would be a bit stupid.

any help i get will be greatly appreciated.

Hi-- I am no Gaming expert-- but you mentioned that you had low-voltages ? It may not be the mobo.
Could we get the make/model of your power-supply, please ?

Hi Stirfried,

Bumps aren't very helpful on this forum. We are all volunteers who have jobs etc, and other responsibilities. Consequently we get on as much as possible, and help as many as possible. But unfortunately, there are a lot more folks with problems, then there are of staff. So be patient, and we will try to help you.

Have you tried trading out the PSU? I would think that 750w could handle what you are doing, but if you are getting drops, perhaps there is a problem with it.

Do you have a friend who could lend you another intensive game to test out?

Have you noticed any particular pattern, timing etc. that corresponds to the freezes?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW,

and remember, patience my sushi friend, patience,

This is a pc help forum, so i would expect some sort of reply within at least 2 days. I am very aggravated at this right now but i don't think my expectations are over the top. i was asked to provide information and i did, then i get no response.

I tried another game and i got the same issue plus another 1. I used the witcher and when exiting the game apparently froze, or to took way too long to exit so i had to force it to quit. There is NO way that the PS is causing that issue, and that 1 is constant.

I don't have another PSU that i could try but i still do not see how a usage drop in my GPU could mean i have a faulty power supply, why would the game continue running if my graphics card lost power? how would my whole machine not be sparattically loosing power? and why would this only occur during games and not during my MANY graphics tests.

i have had other people tell me that the PSU could be the problem but i do not see that as being anywhere near possible.

Hi Stirfried,

You will be helped by the people who are best suited to help you when they are available.

I thought I was very clear in my previous message. We do not tollerate rudeness here, and bumping is considered rude. If you don't think that you are getting helped in a timely manner, let someone know politely.

Your expectations are not over the top, your tone is. All of the people on this site volunteer their time, and do not expect to be ordered around as if they are servants. Ih8bills, is not only one of our best techs, but the Tech Team Leader, he has many responsibilities. I am sure he will get to you as soon as he is able.

In the mean time. You probably have some problem with malware as well as the possible glitching PSU, based on your results. Please follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature and post the resulting log back here. We will move your thread to the New HJT log, and the Security Team will help you remove whatever they find.
