Default PC will not boot

Hi
My PC fooze a few days ago, and I can not get it to start. it stops at the part with the blue screen that says Windows XP (no error message). I tried safe mode and "last knowned good" but every time it stops. I tried booting from a WinXP insallation disk and It gets to menu:
Press enter to install windows
Press R to repair
press F3 to not install windows
But none of the functions work It just sits ther untill I shut it off.
I put the IDE hard drive in another computer and I formated it and hooked it back up to the originail PC and it still will not go past the above menu.
I even tried a different good IDE HDD and the same thing keeps happening.
What is going on?
Thanks in advance.

hello jplink,

it sounds as though your hard drive is crashing. you said you put the drive in another pc and it was working?

Thank you for the responce
That's correct, I put it in another PC and it worked fine. I also took a different (good) HDD and put it in the PC that would not boot, and the same thing happens with the new drive.(it stops at the above menu)
I changed IDE cables and I still get the same problem.

Ok thanks for the info.

It seems your hard drive is ok then. now you could have a power or heat issue. is the inside of your case dusty? your processor might be covered in dust causing it to over heat.

The fan does have a little dust on it, not to bad though. I'm cleaning it right now. I'm also removing the old thermal paste form the fan and CPU and reaplling new paste. I will post back as soon as I'm done
Thanks again

I just removed the CPU fan and cleaned all the old thermal compound and added new thermal compound and now when I turn on the PC I get NO VIDEO!!!!
What just happened?
The PC turns on. the fan works, I can hear the hard drive spinning but no video.
The video is on the MB and it always worked untill just now.
