Default Wipe HDD clean as possible

I have a couple of SATA and the other type fo HDD on the bench
is there any way of getting all the data off the HDDs.
Have them at a condition like the day I bought them or the method to acheive that.
I understand reformat would not be enough. No data backup necessary. Complete clean if possible.
OK first install into computer then....

Deleteing the partitions and formating the drive would wipe it like new but the data could be recovered by an expert there are programs that claim to wipe the entire drive clean as well. If your throwing them out I'd suggest drilling a few holes through the platter like the police do with there old ones.

I do not care much about any data or the OS or any data getting loose, I will take the hammer to them if I throw out
deleting the partition, and formating will give me a clean slate? does one need these softwares to wipe clean

You can wipe the partition and recreate it in windows then format it this is what you want to do to start it all off as if a fresh hard drive and install of windows.
