So far, a specific game to be honest. Medal of Honor: Airborne. What happens is i load up the game, it does the EA video then all of a sudden just truns off. No warning, noises or anything like that. The pc just turns off.

I thought this would most likely be my harddrive overheating, but it was strange as i can run Lotro with DX10 graphics and that has no problems at all.

Im not realy sure, if its simply something to do with the game, then that would put my mind at ease... But if it is overheating, how can i check if this is the problem? Im going to run 3D mark in min to see if it shuts down on that.

Couple of things about my PC-
Windows Vista Ultimate (x64)
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB

I just ran the latest 3D Mark and that work absolutely fine. I installed and was playing Crysis on relatively high settings for about 20 mins, then it randomly shut off again

I have a 700watt psu, could this be to low to support all the things in my rig?? Please help, getting worried it might be some faulty equipment.

To rule out a software issue, does it cut out during any other highly detailed games?

This is what i tested it with-

MoH:A -Cuts out before game gets into the menu.
Crysis- Seemed fine for at least 20 mins, graphics on high, then cut out.
Lotro- Hasn't cut out yet.... Ultra high graphics with DX10.
3DMark (latest version)- Worked perfect on this, didn't cut out at all.

Is there a way i can test for faulty equipment? HDD or GFX card?

When i bought my PSU, it was actually broken on arrival and the dude on eBay refused a return. So, amazingly, i managed to solder the switch together. This was about 2 years ago and has been working fine ever since. But i have a feeling it might be the PSU...

When the PC turns off, i can turn it back on instantly and everything is back to normal.

So that rules out a heat related issue...
You have already tested the GFX card with 3DMark (no failures) and your hard drive is operational for everything else, so probably not that either.

I'm leaning towards the PSU too, is there any way you can get hold of another PSU to test?

Unfortunatly not. If it was the graphics card, would there be any telltale signs of it being faulty?

But as for the PSU, worst comes to worst, ill get a new one its not realy a problem. But before i do, i want to make sure that its the PSU causing the problem. Is there anyway to test the PSU?
