Default [Fixed] 250GB detected as 120GB?

Hi, I bought Seagate SATAII NCQ 250GB 7200RPM 16mb Cache and Windows XP Pro is detecting 120gb instead of 250. How can I fix this?

Also what order should I install drivers? and what is partitioning? should I make a 10gb partition thing for OS?

Thanks!

The most common cause for this is the motherboard.

Could you please post back with your motherboard make and model and we will be able to check it for you.

If I partition my 250GB HD to:

C: 20GB - OS/Programs
D: The rest - Everything

and I wanted to reinstall Windows XP, do I just format C drive?

Yes and you would still have everything on your D partition
