Default [Resolved] Friend's computer problem...

This weekend I'll be going to look at a friend's computer and I was hoping you guys could give me some possible things to check for.
Here's what happened (as I was told on the phone)
My friend was checking her e-mail and the mouse (PS/2) came out of the port. She plugged it back in and the computer just shut off, now it won't turn back on.
I don't know too much specs, I know it's got an AMD processor of some sort, older model that's at least 1ghz, probably more. 768mb DDR memory, 1 IDE HD, an agp gfx card that was replaced not too long ago (very low spec model), and 2 optical drives. Can't offer any more than that...based on that (and that alone, that's all I know), what should I check for as far as what caused it and how to fix it?
I'm obviously going to check for loose cables (like the power cable) but what else, if that isn't the cause?

PS2 mouse? unplugging and plugging back in while on could have created a short or a surge thats damaged the board. Try unplugging it and booting to see. Best case senarios is she knocked the mains out while she fiddled

If she did short the board out then it's essentially dead right? With no hope for ressurection

Hi Zachary try unplugging the power cable hold in the power button for 30secs while the power is unpluged then plug the power lead back in and see if it boots of gives beep codes. Also unplug the mouse

Okay, just got back from her house, it turns out it was unplugged....I thought that was funny as hell...especially because I told her to check that...ah well
I also uninstalled Symantec Antivirus (yuck) and installed AVG 8.0 for her as well as ran CCleaner (which removed 2.5gb of stuff!)
Needless to say, it's running a bit better now...
