Question [Pending] Sony Vaio Help

hi guys i hope you can help me on this..

i have a vaio laptop the vgnfs810, after a few softwares and system restores it was really running slow especially when system start up and playing MP3s. After reading some tutorial i decided that i want to Reformat the whole system. The only problem is the Installation CDs that came with the laptop was left by my uncle in the plain (hand carry) as in all the installation cds together with the drivers and OS. Although i have no problems bout driver installation coz i found a driver donwload in Sony Vaio website. My problem is My OS and i dont know how the hell can i retain it without the disc. IF i do system back up will it back up the recent OS?. The PC has also its restore factory settings which may retain the OS and drivers i think, one of the
features of vaio. any good advice? and how will i deal with it.

By the way my OS is winxp pro.

More power to PCHF.

I would NOT do a reformat without having the Installation CD with me. Where did your uncle leave the CDs?

To help improve your computer's speed suggest you download and install this program (it's free) CCleaner ... Alternative Download.
1. After installing...run the program...click on Analyzer...then click on Run Cleaner.
2. On the left side of the window, click on Registry...click on Scan for issues...click on Fix selected issues.

Take a look at this llink... SONY VAIO Software Drivers installation CD or DVD - eBay (item 120250019721 end time Apr-22-08 22:13:20 PDT)
$24.00 isn't bad for replacement CDs.

The restore will perform a format and install. Most likely a ghost image will be on a hidden partition on the hard disk and will contain all the drivers and should reset the machine to the day you bought it. Might be worth downloading the manual from where you found the drivers to make sure

Hello,If you are running Vista I would take note of zinglebarb.

If your Vaio is still under warranty the supplyer may send you a new OS disk,I would try to contact your Vaio supplyer and see what they can do.

Manny could you make your own thread please?

Edit:driver downloads etc:Sony eSupport - VGN-FS810 - Software Updates & Drivers As you do not have the disks I would download these drivers and put them to disk then you have them for the future.
