Default PC will not Boot

Hello everybody, I hope somebody can shed some light on my issue Im having

Im working with my wifes computer a HP pavilion a1220n

everything worked well until she turned her computer off one night, when she turned it on the next morning it would not boot up windows

1. gets through all POST
2. shows a blinking cursor for a couple seconds after that and then nothing but a blank screen
3. no error sounds or keyboard light error codes

I thought maybe the boot sector went bad so I threw in the windows XP home disk into the drive to boot from disk and do a scndsk, only to find it wont even boot from CD properly. it shows the words "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD" goes to the checking hardware. and then again nothing but a blank screen

Im kinda at a lose of what to do at this point so any help would be fantastic.

OK--
There are troubleshooting steps for a "blank monitor"
HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Monitor is Blank after Starting the Computer
IF THAT does not work...you can try clearing the CMOS and reinstalling Windows-- but if you have a "Recovery Disc" you may lose data--
How old is this PC?
It appears from the HP specs that there is no slot for a video card...strictly onboard graphics-- which is odd... to me

I guess as long as it works...
I'm a little surprised you can still find a Regular PCI Video-card--
I have an AGP 8X-- and it's an antique by today's standards.

Glad you got it fixed.
