yh i have tried that but all it comes up with is a boot menu, about a floppy disk and a cd , nothing about setting the pc to factory settings. there is no choice of password hints. remember: it is re-conditioned

Hello well my sugestion is?

Buy new xp Home disk with a key £50 or XP Pro for £60 it maybe cheaper else were.

Then reinstall windows.

LOL.Ok has the computer got its sticker on it with its key code?

If it has then try and borrow some ones OEM disk to reinstall windows and use the origonal key thats on PC.

Dell PCs usaly have an OEM CD but you must use the XP Pro disk.

Then it would not cost you a penny.

Ask a small local PC repair shop they often supply OEM CD for a few pounds.
