I have a friend's laptop Fujitsu c2330 that suddenly quit printing either to the network or to the local printer plugged into the USB port. Other USB devices quite working too -- mouse, calculator.
I believe that the usb ports (4 of them) do not work. In Device Manager, the Controllers show up (three of them), and the USB root hubs (3 of them) show up. All say working.
It will not pick up the Logitech USB mouse and only lists the Alps pointing device (apparently the mouse pad).
I did the prework to clean up the malware and took off a bunch. But it did not solve the plug and play devices.

I tried to uninstall the USB port and have it pick it up again, and also to update driver. Still no solution. What do you suggest??

Hi Try uninstalling all the USB stuff from the device manager and reboot the PC and see if it redetects the USB devices

Thanks but Did that! Uninstalled the USB Universal Host Controller (all of them) so USB Root Hub references disappeared.-- restarted and it put them back. All said they were working. but still did not get USB mouse to work. Also I ran a Fijitsu driver update utility. -- said all is up to date.
Someone said check chipset drivers. I am not familiar with that. Any other thoughts???

I reinstalled the chipset driver.--still not success. Suggested she use the network to get to her printer and forget the usb ports. I always hate to give up but I think it is time. The only other thing we might do is reformat the harddrive. Thanks for your help anyway.
