Two weeks ago my cd/dvd writer refused to let me burn a dvd i used several programmes (nero, ashampoo & avi to dvd converter + dvd santa) the last one wouldn't work at all so i thought i may aswell get a new burner so i got Liteon 20x dvd/cd writer & Rewriter.

After installing i used nero 7 to burn a music cd and it worked fine but when i try to burn a dvd using any of first three programmes listed it encodes the movie and says burning in progress then no light comes on the burner and it just ejects the cd, i have tried DVD R and DVD RW both with the same outcome.

Any ideas would be welcomed Thanks in advance

Can you do this for me?

Right click My Computer

Click Manage

Then Click on Device manager

Then click on DVD/Cd roms

Right click on your rom and click properties..

Next click on uninstall and reboot your computer.. Let me know if this helps if not I can give you a registry fix but would like to try this first..

Sorry i forgot to mention i have a CD W and a DVD / CD WRITER should i uninstall the
CD W or the DVD/CD writer.

Attempted to burn with nero7 it got to the burning point and then pc rebooted grrrr

Am i missing something here i followed instructions again and i unistalled both my cdr and my dvd/cd
and they went from device manager but after i rebooted they appeared back again in device manager.

they should reapear as Windows Picks them up on reboot...

When burning with nero are you using the read buffer?

Next try this open my computer right click on your DVD drive and click properties..go to the tab that says recording and make sure :enable recording is checked"

Also try burning at a much slower speed like 12x or something like that.. I burn video at 4x's and Audio at 40x I never get a coaster like that
