I have a problem with my pc when I restart it. A message comes up:
"Secondary Drive 0 not found
Secondary Drive 1 not found
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the set up utility
However when i shutdown, poweroff and restart it works fine?
Any ideas what might be causing this. I have looked at boot order and devices in the bios
but everything seems to be set up correctly and it works ok if I power down?
I have a dell pc running windows xp. I have 2 internal hard drives and a dvd drive.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
Did you actually go into the "Setup" (BIOS) - by pressing F2? If you do, and then save the configuration/reboot, does the error still occur? When was the last time you updated your BIOS? Also, check the cabling inside the PC and make sure that all of the power and data cables to and from the hard drives are secure.

I have checked all connections and everything appears to be ok.
If i press f2 and then manually select the secondary drive it then boots ok. I haven't ever updated the bios - should i do this? |

Try resetting the bios by removing the power and bios battery from the mobo for 5 mins - then re-connect and test.
