Default No Post Beep, No Video!

Specs:

Seagate 320gb hdd

MSI p35 Neo-F motherboard

2x1gb 533mhz ddr2

pny verto 8600gt

intel core2 duo e6750

I am building a computer for a friend, and seems that there is no post beep nor video. the pc turns on the fans spin, and somtimes the pc wont hold the power and reset *same with both power supplies*

I've tried everything i could think of,
booted computer with video card and only 1 ram stick
booted with just video card
booted with just ram
cleared cmos
tried different cpu
tried different video card
tried different ram
switched for a brand new mother board,
treid different power supply
tried different tower
tried different power outlet

and ive tried all of the above with the motherboard outside of the tower on the motherboard box

nothing seems to work?!?!?!

EDIT: both power supplies i used are 500w

could it be that i need a higher watt power supply?....

Hello dont panic, welcome to PCHF.

Can you confirm the speaker is connected to the motherboard? The speaker will beep a number of times to indicate where the problem lies. If there are no beeps, this would mean a problem with the motherboard or the CPU. Make sure the motherboard has both 24 pin and 4 pin molex connectors attached to the board from the power supply. 500w is more than ample enough power for that PC.

hi, the speakers connected fine, and all the connectors are plugged in :-/ i tested the cpu on a working computer along with all the other parts (video card, memory, mouse and keyboard). still no luck....i traded in the motherboard for a new one of the same brand and model #. still same problem.

Hey dp,

What you have said so far doesn't make sense. If you have swapped and/or removed every single component, then this would rule everything out, yet there must be something stopping this PC from starting up in the first place. I think you need to start again, since we are looking for a single point of failure. If your speaker is definately working and properly connected, then this would leave either a power connection problem, motherboard or CPU. I'm not talking about the speakers connected to the sound card, I'm talking about the single PC speaker which is connected directly to the motherboard from the base of the PC.
