What is the make/model of this PC (i.e. Dell XPS 400 or Compaq Evo N160)? If it is custom-built, what is the Make/Model of the Motherboard?
That is important to know in order to diagnose what the beep means. Also, can you try to start up your PC and be a little more specific with the type of beeping it makes (for example, one 3 second beep, 3 short beeps, repeat, etc.)? Thank you. |

Don't panic! Please download the following tool:
http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...&ps=UE&lang=en And run it (it's a demo version; don't worry. It will give the info needed). Post all the information you can from "Motherboard." Also, just for a little further reading (if you would like), these explain what a motherboard is/looks like: What is a Motherboard? Motherboard - What is a Motherboard? - Mainboard - System Board - MoBo |

Wow. You'll have to forgive me, fresh_start. I completely forgot that the PC booting up was why I needed the info at all. Sometimes I have those moments; hopefully it's the last you'll have to deal with from me. If I do, though, you're free to give me a good smack in the head.
AMD Athlon is your processor type. If you're comfortable, please open your PC and look at the big mainboard that everything plugs into (the motherboard) and see if there's a sticker or label printed on it that could pass as a brand name and model number. I have to go for most of tonight, but I'll catch up with you ASAP. |
