I read 3,000 for some reason.. Wow I'm tired.

Remove the X-Fi, get 2x 1Gbs, swap the 8800GT for a 7900GS (8800GT is a way better buy though, so if you can spend a little extra and get it.. do so), the 2.33Ghz C2D can stay, the higher FSB will help a lot, and a 650i motherboard shouldn't be too much. PSU shouldn't be too expensive and neither should a case. I'm going on the fact that £300 would be about 600$, then the entire build would be around 500$

Of course you'd be missing a screen

People may disagree with me but i regret buying my core2duo e6850, which is the 2x3ghz model, i simply dont need it, i should have kept my old p3 3.2 ghz, which had hyperthreading and actually gave me around 4.3 ghz, dno why maybe it was overclocked.So do games really need core2duo? I have a very powerful core2duo but i dont see what advantages im getting, i dont think you need a core2duo, a high spec cheap p4 will do the trick in my opinion, unless all the games become core2duo compatible which i suspect they all will, hmmm. maybe i stand corrected by myself

the whole point of a C2D is they run much cooler, the E6700 uses about the same amount of power as a Pentium 4 3.4Ghz. and it is much faster. my old P4 machine was nice, but it lagged in games and movie/photo editing. my current build is much much faster, and i notice, and appreciate it. currently i have running folding@home running on Core 1, 8 Firefox tabs, Windows Media player 11, WMM, and ES4 Oblivion running, and no lagging at all. most of my RAM is used of course, (only 400MB Left xD) but no problems at all. CPU running steady at ~80% usage, (!!!) running all this on my old P4 3Ghz would have it gasping for breath. so i would say that C2D a
re defienetly worth the money

That's why I bought the 1.8Ghz model first time

The fact that the CPU is dual core gives you a great advantage as games are slowly being optimized to utilize as many cores as possible. A C2D is well worth the money, specially since it can be overclocked in a sinch when you need more horsepower
