Default Slow freezing PC

Hi.
I have an old pc which seems to be running very slow this past few days so i reformatted it. which seems to work but i still have the occassional freezing/slowing down when opening other programs. can you plase suggest any other ways to improve my comp... thanks.

Here are my specs:
Intel (R) Celeron (R) 2.0GHz --------> What does R stands for?
Seagate 80GB
NVIDIA GeForce MX4000
256 MB DDR PC3200 RAM ---------> I checked online at crucial.com so not sure if its
correct. Im thinking this might be the problem coz everytime i open
up 2 more programs it starts to freeze and slow down. In other
words i cant multitask.
Am i correct? Should i buy some RAM?

Thanks.

If you are running XP I would suggest a RAM purchase-- it is the cheapest way to inprove performance.
If you have 2 slots you will have to remove what you have to go bigger-- if 4 you should have some empty.

Crucial makes good-quality RAM ,also.
