Default External hard drive reboot my pc?

Hey, I'm thinking of buying a external hard drive to back up my stuff like music, pictures, movies, etc... but theres 1 problem. If I get 1, do you reckon it would make my computer to reboot every time I plug it in like it happens when I plug in a USB stick? Why does it reboot my pc every time I plug in a USB stick? I don't know . It doesn't do it if I plug in my phone to transfer music, but happens to my iPod.

Anyway... this is the external hard drive I'm thinking of getting

Western Digital Elements 320G USB 2.0 External

Thanks!

Welcome to PC Help Forum.

I would think that the reason your PC is rebooting each time you plug in a USB device, is due to a software conflict. Tell us either your PC make and model number or motherboard make and model number and we'll be able to advise you further.

It normally would of restarted by now, but it's good so far...

I'll reply if the pc reboots.

Oh, and my motherboard gets 1 beep when I turn on the pc. Does this mean anything?
