Default 8800 GTS too HOT? Seeking advice.

Greetings,

(Question 1, Main Topic) I have an EVGA 8800 GTS. Does this seem too HOT?

-Not overclocked
-decent case ventilation, and the side of my case is off right now
-100% forced Fan speed
-not running a game, but idle for a long time
65 Degrees Celsius

It's not even doing anything......Anyone have any advice for me? Is it this uncommonly hot?

Also, I will be making another thread for these next questions, but I shall post my questions here just in case someone stumbles upon them

(Question 2) I had Vista on C:\. I wanted XP. I installed XP on a different drive, drive letter G:\. Now it goes straight into XP. Any way to boot up Vista, or have the OS boot selection screen pop up for XP vs Vista?

(Question 3) I have a SB X-Fi "Fatal1ty" sound card. I cannot get the front bay to work on Vista or XP. Currently on XP, seemingly hooked-up correctly.....Using drivers "SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_09_0007" . Anyone have a X-fi Fat that has their front bay working?

Thanks for all questions answered or read! I appreciate any effort!

Have a nice day.

Douglas

65°C is very hot. It is around 140°F !! Imagine a room that is 140 degrees. Are you getting that info from your BIOS? Is it a system temp or a CPU temp or a GPU temp?
----------------
On the XP/Vista issue, there is a way to get a dual boot screen. If you have XP Pro I know it can be done. Someone on the forum knows exactly where to go to do it. I have done it, but my own system is down right now, so I can't recall. Hopefully someone can tell you that admin/control panel screen that will allow you to change default OS & allow the dual boot screen that allows you to choose the OS. I want to have linux, 98SE, Vista, Old Longhorn Beta, and XP original for my boot choices. I know very little about Vista except it seems to cause more problems than its worth.
----------------
The next ? ... I still use the original Audigy Platinum External (has a place to hook all your synths/firewire etc that uses a CD bay in the case) so I can't help on that 'un. .. only thing I would think is that you double check all the connections from the bay to the Motherboard/Sound Card itself.
----------------
Hope I have helped, if not only a small bit. Perhaps someone with more info about specifics could help you more.

Well; I say if it stays at less than 45°C it is not hot...anything else is going to cause early death on the {whatever it is CPU sys temp GPU whatever.) BTW I love any info any body brings my way. even if it is not as I agree.

thanks for that link too, by the way...

but still....65 DC at idle with all my other factors? That's straight crazy... Waste of power...

Any more advice would be amazing, also have 2 more issues of conern:

(Question 2) I had Vista on C:\. I wanted XP. I installed XP on a different drive, drive letter G:\. Now it goes straight into XP. Any way to boot up Vista, or have the OS boot selection screen pop up for XP vs Vista?

I appreciate any advice given from anyone,

Douglas
