I was given a used laptop (Gateway M675) that had a complete hard drive wipe. I have it up and running with a new Windows XP system, and am now trying to access the internet. My computer is missing the drivers for my pci modem and whatever wireless card there is in it. It says fitted with a IEEE 802.11g WLAN card and AMBIT Microsystems Corp. Modem model number T60M283.00. Now I need to know if I could simply install a new WLAN wifi card and install whatever comes with it, and not worry about having problems accessing the internet, or if the missing pci drivers would create a conflict with that. I was told I dont need to worry about the modem if I am just going to be doing the WLAN thing, but I honestly have no idea. If I can just install a new WLAN card, any recomendations/suggestions for my pc? I really would appreciate any help you guys give me, so thank you in advance.

Yep, you don't really need the modem drivers if your not going to use it.

The drivers you need for your wireless card can be found here (under Network Downloads - Broadcom Wireless Driver): Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads

You will need to find a way of getting this driver from this PC to your Gateway laptop. Are you OK to do this, do you have any removable devices such as a floppy disk of pen drive?

Thank you. I was looking at that at the gateway page for my notebook, bu twasnt sure if this was what I needed. I can go pick up a pen drive quick and Ill get back and tell everyone if this resolved the issue.

Okay, slight problem. I can have downloaded the file to my flash drive, but when I put it in my other laptop, it wont open/unzip. Do I have to unzip it on the other pc first?

It cant even seem to detect the wlan card on the other laptop. I know it's there, I have seen this pc use it before the guy wiped his drive, but nothing seems to show up about it. The only thing close to it is the LAN high speed connection part of my netwrok connections, and "set up a wireless network" which I have already set up. Any help?
