Unhappy [Answered] Primary master hard disk error

hello
my name is taz and im new to this forum i have been having a problem with my pc for months it started when my chip was over heating so i took it be fixed he put a new motherboard in only about a few months ago and now my monitor keeps losing connection with my pc then my pc will keep rebooting itself and coming up with the message primary master hard disk error i dont want to take it back the shop as everytime i take it be fixed somehow something else goes a few months later i have rang him though and he says its a conflict in software but surley it wouldnt do that? i know a bit about pcs but am stuck on this i assume its my hard drive but just want to make sure

Hi Taz, Welcome to PCHF.

That error message could by the HDD, IDE cable or controller onboard the motherboard. This one isn't something you can really test without trial and error of first of all swapping your IDE/SATA cable with another, however, if your problem started after swapping your motherboard, I believe this makes this more likely.

If your PC is still under warranty, you may find it much cheaper to take it back to where it was purchased from (even though it sounds like the PC was put together by blind hypnotic sheep!!), and demand satisfaction!
