Hi all, I have been having a problem similar to one I have had before but now the older fixes aren't working anymore. Here is my details about this situation.
When I power on my computer first off seems to have a bad CMOS (it will not hold the time/date, HDD boot priority, and it shows the Abit logo screen. Sometimes it simply freezes on this or even the post screen even though I have pressed the del key to get into setup the "Press del key to enter setup" still shows instead of the "entering setup" messgae.
If/when this issue has been resolved (reset usually doesn't work, I have to flip the
PSU off and hope for the best) it may boot, it may not. When it does boot it will either stay on for several hours or minutes, sometimes freezing up on the Windows logon screen. When it does not boot it will at any chance it gets simply quit booting and my monitor will go dark and show a "no signal" message just before going into sleep mode. I have noticed that it seems to do this right after the Windows splash screen about 3 out of 5 times, but it has done this also before the splash screen and immediately after powering on as well. An afterthought.....I noticed a few times it will not do anything after telling me that the memory is ok, freezes up again.
Here is a little about my system as I am at work and cannot use any of the tools offered here to give you all my info.
Athlon XP 3200
1GB DDR 400 (Mushkin)
Abit NF8-V
mobo
Maxtor, Seagate, IBM Deskstar, and western Digital HDD's
can't remember about the vdeo off hand, I think it is a 256 MB Radeon
Sharp 17 in LCD monitor
Any help in getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated so thanks just for reading this posting!
