I just installed an FX5500 eVga card. it has a dvi output, and my monitor has a dvi input ... and i have a dvi cable

is it worth running the new wire? or will i not see a difference?

That depends on what you use it for, if you're just typing word documents then you will not see a difference, yet if you have a very fast computer and play games on it then you will see a difference.

DVI is faster as it's all digital where as VGA is analogue and converted to analogue by the gpu.

Well if you have the cable and it won't cost you much, why not.
