Yep, RAM test was one of the first things suggested so I ran the RAM checker for about 20 hours and it turned nothing up despite the many many cycles it went through. I'm starting to think it may be a problem with my video card as it's the only thing I've ever put in myself and although there were no problems for the first few months, the crashes seem to be more frequent when playing games.

do you have your old video card laying around? If so, pop that in and see what happens.

I'm afraid not Valis. When I bought the system it just had one of the crappy Intel integrated graphics things. However I've done a bit of digging and searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base and it's coughed up something to do with the "Advanced SCSI Programming Interface (ASPI)" and recommends updating their software on your computer. Here's the link to that article.

"STOP 0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" Error Message from Aspi32.sys

Now according to that shed loads of third parties use this software. Could it simply be an old version of that is conflicting with something?

easily. video cards update their drivers pretty regularly. I've had an ATI for a year or so, updated the drivers twice.....I would definitely go to the mfg of the video card's site and check for the latest drivers first, and see what happens.

Hi everyone. Tried Valis' suggestion of updating the video drivers and the problem still occurs. Getting frustrating now!

okay, let's check the event logs again.

go to start > run > eventvwr.msc. That will open an explorer like window with applications, security, and system in the left pane. Click on system and see if there are any exclamation points near to when it last froze; if so, double click on the item in the right pane, click on the two pieces of paper to copy it to your clipboard, and then come back here and paste the results. Then do the same for the applications folder; look for any exclamation marks that are near in time to when your pc is freezing.

thanks,

v
