Default [Answered] Can't get USB hub to work on pc - please help!

Hi all,

New user here - hope there is someone who can help me!

I have been trying to get a usb hub to work on my pc, but so far have had no luck. I have bought 2, and neither of them are any good.

The most recent one is a Digitus 4 port USB 2.0 hub. It gets recongised when I plug it in, but after a driver is found and installed, nothing happens, and nothing works when I plug things into it.

Please help! What can I do to make it work?

Thanks in advance.

Hello SillyRabbit. Welcome to PC Help Forum

What Operating System do you use? I see that the Digitus 4 port USB 2.0 hub is a bus powered hub. Bus powered hubs are iffy at best. They are made to connect things that have their own power supply like printers, scanners, ect... If you are already running something on the other usb port on your PC there may not be enough power leff to operate the hub with something plugged in. There should be a power light on the hub. Is it on?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello sillyrabbit,

Welcome to PCHF. We have another silly wabbit who works on this forum, his name is Bugsey.. so keep your carrots well hidden from this lil guy!

Back to business!

When you connect your hub, you receive the message "Found New Hardware"? Is this hardware successfully installed? If you go to Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager, list what you see under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Are there any devices that are showing with a question or exclaimation mark against them?

EDIT: If so, right click and uninstall. Right click on the PC name at the very top and Scan for hardware changes and go through that hardware setup wizard. Don't complete the wizard until the drivers are fully loaded, as you may require your windows setup CD.

Marked as answered.
