Default p5n-e sli problems with 4 gigs

after listening to many peoples advices, i finally built my PC and it works great.

now i decided to go from 1gig to 4(4x 1gb cards) gig(yeah i dont really need it but i did it anyways)

so here lies the problem. i windows wont boot up(it will be stuck on loadings screen) whenever i have 4 gigs in it. with 3gigs it works fine but with the 4th, it just gets stuck during windows screen.

i tried booting up the computer with each individual card to test and make sure that all the ram cards are working and it works fine.

do you guys have any ideas on why my computer wont boot with 4 gigs of ram?

this is my ram card

Welcome to the PCHF emochu.

In regards to your 4gb of memory - you need 64bit windows, otherwise you will only ever be able to use 3gb. Also with larger amounts of memory, you can't clock it higher - try lowering the speed in the bios if you know how.

if i was instructed on setting the bios, i would be able to do it. i am currently using this windows

Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2b 1pk w/Upgrade Coupon for Vista - OEM

i dont plan on overclock so thats not an issue for me but as far as the fourth gig, are there any other way to get the 4th gig working?

well you know emochu,

only if you...i guess its not overclocking..i guess its underclocking...? but if you were to reduce the memory of your RAM you would be able to fit 4 in there. Theres just too much, i believe. Perhaps keep the fourth stick out and get windows xp 64bit maybe?

i think thats the same thing i ordered. i wonder if i have a coupon for vista...hrmm... (: (: (: good luck
