Default Thanks For The Info So Far...Still No Luck :-(

Hey guys.....I'm still having trouble with my PC. I've tested the power supply and think it's working okay. I tested it by plugging the 24 pin connector up to the motherboard as well as the other wires necessary. I made sure that the video card was seated in place. Then I shorted the green wire from the 24 pin connector to a ground wire. All the fans turned on. While that was happening, I took my volt meter and checked the voltages of the power switch and the standby switch. I don't remember what the readings were but as I recall, they read exactly what they were supposed to read.

Is there a way to tell if the chip is fried? Will it look discolored or melted or something? I'm probably wasting my time with this machine but at this point, it's the challenge of getting it to work more that anything else. As I mentioned, the motherboard has a green LED that stays on when the power supply is on so I'm thinking the motherboard's okay (maybe that's naive of me).

The components are in a Liam Li case and everything looks new...(which I know means nothing). It's also at least as old as 2001 Pentium 4 and has Rambus mem. chips. As old as it is, it's an upgrade of what I'm using now which is a Pentium II 450 mhz processor. Any advise would be appreciated........Thanks again guys........Dave

Is the 2001 Liam Li case outdated or can I use it to put a newer motherboard/processor in it? Do all motherboards tend to fit in most cases or am I way off base on that statement?

Thanks........Dave
