[Resolved]slow PC

Hi,

When I try and load some programs, Cannon Scanner, or type in a web page, [whatever . com] it takes maybe 3-4 min to load.

I have deleted all files, cookies, scanned for everything I can think of, chckdisc, defrag, etc. It still takes 3, 4, 5, min to load somethings. IE loads good, but when I type in the WWW.anything.com so slow. Google works fast, and I can load from there ok.

I just installed a new LCD screen and upgraded my video card. I guess I should install the old monitor back and try, such a pain.

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Your problem has nothing to do with your monitor.
Can you post back with your system specs, i.e memory, cpu size etc.

I have moved this to the XP Forum Roger, if you are not running XP please inform us.

Hi,

(4 Partisions) Gig hard dive, paging fle 1151 MB, Physical memory 767 MB.

Thanks for the help.

Strange when I go to "My Computer" it also takes 3 min to open.

Hi Roger,

Do you have any other media devices, CD's, USB Pen sticks? If so, can you remove them all and see if your problem returns. Also can you access all the partitions on your disk OK?

Can you also follow PCHF prework on my signature, post your Hijackthis log back here, to make sure that this is not a malware problem?

I can access all drives ok, only a CD writer and DVD writer.

Hi.

Empty your Recycle Bin if you haven't already done so.

Do you know anything about this program: Wanadoo/Wookit?

I'll try try this when I get home tonight.

As I live in (an American in Paris) France and Wanadoo is my ISP.
