the cable/internet company, pavlov media, are stupid and clueless and have no idea what is going on. the guy i spoke to didn't even know what a tv tuner was. they also don't support tv guides or dvr service. i think it is a lost cause unless we can find a tv tuner that doesn't need a direct connection.... but i am yet to find someone who has ever heard of that.

appears to me that i am just outta luck until i go home from college and can actually get a direct connection there.

I was thinking last night, sorry if you think this is stupid, but have you run the actual software that came with the tv tuner. Because the software has to tune the card to the tv/cable signal.

Have you downloaded the latest drivers and software as well...

the tv tuner didn't come with any software. the instructions just saw to plug in the remote sensor to a USB port and run the media center. it automatically installed hardware when i plugged in the remote sensor.

i have downloaded the lastest drivers.

There has to be a programme that needs to be tuned to the tv/cable signal. Windows Media Player will not be able to do it. What about the software from the cards website is any of that installed.

Features:
  • PCI interface with dual Analog tuners
  • High Quality - 3D Y/C and Noise Reduction
  • Watch & Record simultaneously
  • A/V Inputs (supports NTSC, PAL and SECAM)
  • RF Input (supports NTSC)
Application:
  • Monsoon Multimedia SnappySoft
  • Sonic MyDVD Studio v6.2
  • ORB TV
  • MediaPortal (free!)
OS:
  • Windows MCE
  • Windows XP
My Compro digital tv tuners came with software that tunes in the tv stations so that you can watch them. Here's a screenshot of my Compro in action, this is in the windowed mode, It can be zoomed out to full scren.

I'm doing it through the Media Center that came with Windows MCE. It searches from the signal and does not find one. I e-mailed the guys who made my TV Tuner and they said as long as I have the coax cable f rom the TV Tuner to the wall and the latest drivers downloaded from their website, it should work.... but it doesn't.

well thanks to everyone for their help. i finally solved the problem. the jack behind my desk is just for looks... nothing is actually hooked up to it. i ran a 25 ft cable to the jack behind my tv and VOILA it works.

the only other problem is the retards at my cable company published a very incorrect tv guide so the guide the tv tuner downloaded is obviously wrong.

oh and we have analog cable... my provider thinks we have satellite... show's how reliable they are!
